Joan Haran
Dr Joan Haran is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Research Fellow at Cardiff University and the University of Oregon. She has published extensively in the fields of feminist science fiction studies and feminist cultural studies of technoscience. She is co-author of Human Cloning in the Media: From Science Fiction to Science Practice, 2008, London: Routledge, with Jenny Kitzinger, Maureen McNeil and Kate O’Riordan. Her sole-authored book, Genomic Fictions: Genes, Gender and Genre is forthcoming from the University of Wales Press. Her current European Commission-funded research uses the concept ‘imaginactivism’ to analyse how interpretive and activist communities are formed, inspired and / or reinvigorated by feminist science fiction.
